There should be more encouragement and opportunity for skills development/education and work experience for all 18yr olds with more support and resources provided to enable this. Taking part should be compulsory but the right to choose what.

I believe we should be offered the choice to perform 2-3 years of public service and earn the right to vote and hold public office, or not serve and then not have the right to vote. This should not have to be military service and I practically the majority of people would not be able to do thier service in the military, but it should involve some personal risk (e.g paramedics, mental health care assistants, police work etc.)
